Mrs Elizabeth Moran
Principal

Elizabeth joined Broadfield Primary School as part of their senior leadership team in her capacity as SENDCo, in April 2022. Having lived most of her life in Yorkshire, Elizabeth has trained and worked as a teacher for the last 16 years in districts within and surrounding Bradford; namely Manningham and Bingley. Her career has involved teaching all age groups, from Nursery through to Year 6 and she has previously been in post as an Assistant Headteacher, a Deputy Headteacher and an associate lecturer for a university in Leeds. Elizabeth joined Broadfield School after moving into the Greater Manchester area. Upon visiting the welcoming and special school that Broadfield is, it became apparent instantly - from busy and happy students in classrooms to the friendly and dedicated staff she met - that Broadfield was a school she wanted to be a part of. Elizabeth was appointed to the role of Principal on 1st April 2023.

Mrs Georgina Andrewes
Co-opted Governor (Chair)
Gina joined the Board of Governors in 2011, initially as a community governor and was later elected Chair in 2016. She is the link governor for Special Education Needs and Disability; and Emotional Health and Well Being.

Gina has worked for many years supporting people to access education, health and well being in their local community. Presently she co facilitates and manages a community sewing project here in Oldham. As an Art Psychotherapist she works with 5 to 16 year olds in schools who have experienced complex trauma.

Mrs Suzanne Despard
Staff Governor
Suzanne joined Broadfield in 2014 as a Key Stage 2 teacher. She was then promoted to Unit Manager of KS2 and then in 2020 moved to Unit Leader in KS1 to gain further experience. Suzanne
successfully completed her NPQSL and joins the Senior Leadership Team from September 2023 as
Assistant Principal. She is delighted to be continuing her career progression in the school that she is
so passionate about. Suzanne is PHSE/ SMSC coordinator, Geography Coordinator and also manages our School Council. She joined the Board of Governors in 2021.
Prior to her teaching career, Suzanne was a Recruitment and Training Manager for 10 years. Suzanne is a passionate and dedicated fundraiser for the MND associations having lost her mum to
the disease in 2008. She has completed a Skydive, participated in an 11-day Arctic Trek, completed four half Marathons and three 10k runs, and organized numerous charity evenings. In recognition of her fundraising dedication for MND, Suzanne was honored to be invited to St James Palace to meet Princess Anne who is Patron of the MND Association.

Mr Martin Griffin
Co-opted Governor
Mr Martin Griffin joined the school's Board of Governors in June 2021. He has run his own battery business since establishing the company at the age of 21 and is a Founder Member and former President of the British Battery Industry Federation. Mr Griffin has recently sold his battery business and now runs a property and equity portfolio. Mr Griffin served on the board of a government regional regeneration scheme from 2003-2011 and was a Trustee for the charity Cameo Aid from 2000-2004. He is also a Governor at another State Primary school and Withington Girls School in Manchester and has spent much time volunteering over the years through a homeless outreach programme, several youth clubs and children’s charities. Mr Griffin has recently started volunteering at a local food bank.

Mr Mohammed Zahid
Governor (Vice Chair)
Mohammed Zahid has been a governor at Broadfield since 2012.

He was previously also a governor at an independent faith school, and whilst serving as the chair of governors helped to guide the school from an “Inadequate” OFSTED grading to a “Good” grading.

Mohammed is an IT professional specialising in Business Intelligence, and currently works for a leading global Data Science company.

For many years, Mohammed has provided mentoring to university graduates to guide and support them into jobs in the IT industry.

Mohammed is passionate about learning and education and strives to inspire children to achieve their potential.

Mrs Carol Walker
Staff Governor
Carol has worked at Broadfield Primary School since 2000, the whole of her teaching career. She has worked across all year groups, has been the Deputy Headteacher since 2008 and until recently also held the position of SENDCo. She is also the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. Carol feels it is a privilege to be part of a wonderful school and community and is proud of the contribution that she has been able to make as a member of staff and as a Governor.

Mr Andrew Potts
Co-opted Governor
Andy has worked at The Hathershaw College since 2006. He is currently an Assistant Principal at the College, having held this post for the past six years. Prior to this, he was the Humanities Curriculum Leader for eleven years. Andy is extremely passionate about the teaching profession, which is why he was keen to take up a post on the governing body at Broadfield. He thoroughly enjoys the role and believes Broadfield is a truly fantastic place for the young people of the area to develop and grow.

Ms Fatoom Dar
Parent Governor
Fatoom is a full time homemaker and mum to two children, one being a little boy with a diagnosis of Autism. Prior to getting married, Fatoom obtained a master's degree in psychology and she is passionate about making a difference to children with SEND and their families. Fatoom is currently volunteering as treasurer for a group that supports families of children with Autism.

Ms Francesca Blayds
Staff Governor
Francesca joined Broadfield in 2008 as a teaching assistant and has worked in every Key Stage over the last 16 years.
Her passion for music has seen the school take part in Young Voices concerts and Manchester Sings. She is the choir leader for the upper and lower junior choirs, organises the Christmas service at church every year and helps support the Oldham Music Service in school.
Her years at Broadfield demonstrate her love and dedication to the school and she has developed strong relationships with parents and students.
